Sentosa Island
Sentosa is a developed resort island south of the main island. It contains beaches, hotels, Universal Studios Singapore, the S.E.A. Aquarium, golf, ziplines, Fort Siloso, and the cable car terminus. Nothing here is “wilderness”—everything is managed—but the beaches are real sand and the sea views are open to the Singapore Strait.
Getting there
HarbourFront MRT (NE1 / CC29) — exit into VivoCity. From Level 3, the Sentosa Express monorail runs to three stops on the island (be aware of separate island / express fees—check the latest Sentosa page).
The Sentosa Boardwalk is a covered walk from VivoCity to the island (free to walk; historically there was a small entry fee for vehicles—verify current rules). Taxis and ride-hail cars use the road bridge; drop-off points vary by hotel or attraction.
The Mount Faber cable car runs to Sentosa from HarbourFront or Mount Faber; it is scenic but slower than the train if you are in a hurry.
Siloso faces shipping lanes; swimming is allowed in marked zones when flags permit.
Beaches
- Siloso Beach — volleyball, bars, and the most activity; backs onto Fort Siloso.
- Palawan Beach — family-friendly; footbridge to a small islet with a viewing tower.
- Tanjong Beach — quieter, club venue at one end; further from the monorail.
Major ticketed attractions
- Universal Studios Singapore — one-day tickets are common; express passes cost extra. Queues peak on weekends and school breaks.
- S.E.A. Aquarium — large marine aquarium in the Resorts World Sentosa cluster; allow 1.5–2 hours.
- Adventure Cove Waterpark — adjacent to the aquarium; seasonal hours.
- Fort Siloso — free walking trail and skywalk; WWII coastal battery displays.
